Preview Zip Files Online

ArchView is handy Firefox plug in that lets you preview the contents of .zip files online and easily extract individual files. Say you downloaded a huge archive file and then found out that some files are corrupted. Instead of downloading the whole archive again, you can just select the files from the archive and download. Application currently supports .zip, .iso and .rar formats.


The process of installation is usual, once installed a small icon appears on the status bar of your browser. When you click on .zip file link, ArchView will display the individual files and folders present in that .zip archive.

Compressing an image can save space on your har drive, not to mention speed up your website for visitors. The downside to this, of course, is that images are reduced in quality.

If you have an image you want to use for your website, but is so large you think it will slow down your site for visitors, JPEGCompress can compress jpeg images online. Since the service is based entirely on the web there’s no need for you to install anything to use it: simply upload your file (Jpg only) and you’ll be able to download a compressed version.





The site makes quick work of compressing even large images, and will inform you of the changes it’s made. Sure, you could quickly do this with tools such as Photoshop or The Gimp, but if you don’t need any functionality besides compressing JPEG files why not use a unipurpose tool that doesn’t require you to install anything?

This is more than sufficient for a single album, but if you want to transcode your entire library you may want to consider a local alternative.
